The 22-time Grand Slam winner and Maria, who became parents for the first time in October, have teamed up with French haute perfumery Henry Jacques and released a fragrance collection called In All Intimacy.
Although Nadal has previously worked with Tommy Hilfiger and Lanvin and advertised their fragrances, it is the first time that he has released his own fragrance.
Les Brumes Rafael Nadal N°1 and N°2 are inspired by the sparkling blue waters of the tennis great’s native Mallorca with the Spaniard telling Vogue: “I wanted something fresh, something clean, something with a touch of the Mediterranean.”
They have distinct scents with Henry Jacques stating that one is “a lighter scent for when he’s in character playing tennis” and includes “bright, energetic notes of coriander and lemon, as well as the Spanish artemisia plant complemented by cedarwood and leather”.
The other for “personal and private moments” and it has “a more subdued alternative, with a largely floral bouquet and a subtle zing of citrus and freesia”.
According to Vogue, Maria Perello in Brumes and Essences is “soft and silky with some violet and orange blossom, highlighted with jasmine and bergamot, while also enhanced by sandalwood and white musk”.
Both Nadal and Perello’s perfumes include bergamot, jasmine, and sandalwood, but it was entirely by co-incidence.
“We were at home trying things, talking about it, but I stopped myself giving any input on it because, at the end of the day, it’s something very personal,” Nadal said.
The Spanish couple became parents on October 8 as Perello gave birth to a boy in Mallorca, but they have kept mum about their personal lives since then with Nadal only stating that his wife and child are doing well.
Nadal only returned to action this week following the birth and he admitted it was “tough to leave home”, but he lost in the second round of the Paris Masters, going down in three sets against Gilles Simon.
